Thanks for the news on Boomer Carly. Quite the lineage, so glad that we have news on one of Scout and Orvilles offspring. Will be watching this site to see what transpires and hope we will be seeing good happenings. ;D ;D

Boomer has quite the lineage, apart from being the son of Scout and Orville, he's descended from quite a few famous falcons including Mercury, Snowball, Bandit, Rosevelt and Buckeye (all names we are familiar with through Alisons great stories and updates)! It's quite fascinating..almost feel sorry for the little guy as he as he has so much to live up to now!
Juanita has put up a great chart of his geneology here and if you go back through the thread you can see when he was first spotted here and some photos of him and SW in the nest box bowing to each other!

A few updates from the Terminal Tower site:
June 24th, 2010:
"It was brought to our attention that some people are a bit frustrated by the lack of information about the TT nest and fledglings. With all of the care and concern that everyone has for this nest, it's understandable, but please try to understand that there isn't much news to report. We don't want to speak for Scott (and of course, he has more pressing issues on his mind with his mom), but when we filled in for him in the past we realized that it is very difficult to keep up with post-fledge activity at the TT. Some nest sites lend themselves to observing after the juvies fledge, as the young stay closer to the nest site and low enough to view and ID. At the TT, the juvies can be on the tops of the highest buildings and a block or two away within the week of fledging. So, going downtown to try to observe them can be quite difficult. As we mentioned when we last posted, even when we did see SW and the juvies they were very high up (to the point that you wouldn't have been able to pick them out as peregrines without binoculars, and you'd never be able to ID them up there, even with a spotting scope). As for Ranger, we have been in contact with Laura Jordan of the Medina Raptor Center almost daily, but we have nothing to report beyond Harvey's updates. Unfortunately, it's a waiting game now to see if his condition can improve and they will be reassessing him in 1-2 weeks. Hope this helps somewhat, but sometimes it seems that "no news is good news" at this stage."
June 27th, 2010:
Arrow Recued fom TT Rooftop
On Thursday, June 24th, I received a call from the Tower City management office reporting a falcon down and in distress on the 16th floor of the Terminal Tower complex. Jim Maier of Tower City met my daughter and me and took us to an office with an window opening on the roof. An immature female Peregrine was lying in a corner of the roof deck. I went out on the roof and grabbed her. She struggled but had difficulty standing. It was Arrow, 58/H. She was not emaciated and had good meat on her chest. She was breathing hard and seemed to have blood around the opening to her trachea. Her tongue was discolored indicating she might be dehydrated. We took her back to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, administered fluids and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent and set her up in a small cage. We made arrangements to have her taken to Laura Jordan of the Medina Raptor Center the following morning. I received a message from Laura late Friday afternoon and she reported that Dr. Riggs could not find any broken bones, injury or indication of disease. Laura was going to set Arrow up in a flight cage and give her the weekend to gain strength, rehydrate and get her wits about her. Our hope is that she will be releasable sometime this week. I will update on Monday as we learn more.
Ranger's condition remains the same.
June 28th, 2010:
Arrow's Passing
Laura Jordan of the Medina Raptor Center reported that Arrow was found dead in her enclosure Sunday morning. Clearly her internal injuries were more severe than the vet had thought on Friday. In talking with Laura she said it was clear that Arrow had suffered head trauma and though feisty and defensive when being handled, on her own she struggled to stand and was clearly in significant trouble. Dr. Riggs thought that she probably had a slow arterial bleed in her cranium that ultimately took her life.
Chris and Chad Saladin reported the following on Sunday
"On the more positive side, out of pure luck we managed to see some peregrine action on Saturday evening as we swung through the TT on our way home from the Tower East site. One juvie was calling as he/she was flying high up by the Courthouse building, and then swung around to the other side where another juvie joined him/her in flight, and then both darted toward the back of the TT. As we were watching, the two less graceful flyers (obviously juvies in comparison) were calling and chasing another peregrine (we assume it was SW, of course). It was late, so fairly silhouetted, but it had to be Dart and Spike chasing SW."

Update on Ranger as of Friday, June 18th:
Ranger's Condition:
A voice-mail received from Laura Jordan of the Medina Raptor Center about Ranger this afternoon Friday, June 18, 2010. He is still being force-fed and Dr. Riggs is concerned about possible lesions in one eye. Laura said that Dr. Riggs wants to see Ranger challenged in a larger enclosure next week to see if that might stimulate his appetite. It will also allow Dr. Riggs to assess his vision. There will be an update next week to report on any further progress at that time.
