The Alberta gang of biologists are the best there are for trapping peregrines and in fact they were the ones I went to about the nest-trays and trying to identify Jules' band as they have the greatest wealth of experience & expertise with these things.  And just so you know, they don't push it when it comes to trapping the adults, last year they tried to get Radisson and she was having none of it.  No idea if they plan to try again but my money's on Radisson  ;D

Excellent points and did cross my mind.  I'm just surprised they'd disturb incubating falcons to do it though...I know you guys put in boxes during this same time frame and they were ok with it but going in and 'capturing' them to fit transmitters is ...well wow.  Would they have put the eggs in a warming container while they fitted the transmitters?  And how would you catch both of them, wouldn't they go crazy?

The equipment is expensive and since there is such high mortality among first-year birds, putting the equipment on experienced adults is a better bet.  And besides, these birds will most probably return to Alberta, the chicks, if they survive, could end up anywhere technically and they probably won't hold territories for a couple of years ...

Wow.I would have thought they'd do it to the fledglings during banding instead like Quest and not the adults during incubation.

I have an e-mail to biologists . I do not know if they know the cam is still not running.
I see they have posted what I knew.  they put tracking devices last week on the male and female. It is now posted on their site. I did not know if what the biologists told me was privileged.

They figure the eggs will hatch beginning of June. Cam is off line right now but really look when it comes back up.  and that is all I am saying.

There is a photo with three eggs on a May 1st post, so I would estimate that the eggs will hatch the first week in June.
I'll be interested to hear what the Genesse project folks estimate ...

Hope it warms up for them and that the sun comes out - that box appears to have great southern exposure!
