well the male is in the nest box and thee is moving all around . He is up an down and on his head so something must be happening. How do you incubate and brood at the same time , you lie with your back end up .
I am getting nothing done. they have to do this before I leave for the day.
I do not want to post too many pictures and clog the system but I do not think I have posted one of the handsome guy yet with his back end up of course
ballywing:
I agree, don't worry about it Bev - it SOOOOO looked like 2 chicks there - very strange!!! ??? - Too bad the camera lens is all blurry now too.. :-\
carly:
Don't feel bad Bev, honestly from the pictures it surely did look like 2 and even the one I took. Obviously the light is playing tricks on our eyes and the fact that we are all so excited probably added to us seeing double!!! Thank you for all the hard work you're doing and all the pictures you've been posting for us so we can all cheer along for Radisson :D
bev.:
thanks Tracy.
it is obvious by the pictures that there is one egg and 1 chick now. I felt bad this morning for thinking there were 2 but it sure looked like it. and I am supposed to keep the bilogists appraised :-[ . anyhow I e-mailed them all my pictures when I thought 2 had hatched and then I e-mailed them all the pictures that showed that there was one egg and i chick. Oh well, mistakes are made. a false labor you might say. this afternoon would be th time to watch again I suppose becasue they say in most cases they hatch 24 to 48 hours apart.
It is to get real warm her so that my help the process.
did you get my e-mail tracy
The Peregrine Chick:
My information is 1 chick hatched, 1 egg. Willl have to wait to see if egg two hatches or gets shoved aside by one of the adults after a suitable amount of time has gone past. There was an unhatched egg in the Brandon nestbox until about 4 days before banding but by the time we got there on Tuesday, the egg was gone. Sometimes they "disappear" earlier, sometimes not. Egg could still hatch though after another 24 hours the likelihood drops significantly.
