If you see Radisson at that nest box at any time it would be nice to post it.  This could be the last week they are around :'( :'(

Had to finish up my yard yesterday and today. We finally have some nice weather. It hasbeen so cool(BRRRR). I hope mom and dad stay to enjoy a bit of it but you can tell they are resting and getting ready.

The caps seemed appropriate.  It was breaking news, and good news too!

Peter will download all the pictures sometime today. we have some nice ones of them soaring I think.
They seem to be putting the area to memory.

"Putting the area to memory" is a beautiful phrase.  Last weekend you reported one of the juveniles was soaring, and getting higher and higher, then lost to sight.  That would have been putting the area to memory before leaving for the adventure.

Did you notice that they have the box all messed up again. There is no clean area now. ;D ;D

Lol...only us falcon heads would find a messy box a good sign  ;D ;D

Friday night

We had my grandson tonight again but unfortunately there was not much to see.
My eyes started to tear up as I am now preparing for the day when they are gone.
We must have just missed mom at the nest box as when we got there there was no one around.

We were beginning to think that they had gone. :'( :'( Then in comes one falcon and flies over to nestbox area but does not land or stay. We could not figure out who, but Peter thought mom. I thought dad. Peter took some shots so I hope I can identify from those.

Whoever it was , ended up perched on the far end of Windsor place apartments, just above where they tuck in for the night. It has perched there before.  I am sure this is dad. It stayed for awhile and I looked down and it was gone. So I left Peter and Draeton , on the parkade and went over to the area to check it out. No one was around :( :(

I went back up and Peter and Draeton had to leave for a few minutes. While they were gone a falcon came flying in. I heard it before I saw it. I was busy trying to take pictures as it soared around the nest area and past the heart building and then landed on a ledge across form me on the Windsor place apartments. I have never seen them there before. Because of the vocalizing I know there has to be 2 but I probably missed one while taking pictures. Once again why you need more than one set of eyes. I  am pretty sure the one I see is mom. Then she takes off and flies onto a ledge and tucks in for the night.

Peter and Draeton are back so I go and search again.  I find mom tucked in on a ledge for the night (5 down) but no dad , so I walk around the building and go way down the street. I can see the ledges on the other side and there is dad tucked on the top ledge, for the night.
Yes, I have 2.

This is not an area that I would want to walk too far by myself  ::) ::)

So they are tucked in by 7:00 and we are off. It is very cold and is getting dark.
tomorrow will bring a warmer day and evening , I hope

I must have just missed her when we went down last night.

Thursday night
When we got there mom was sitting on the corner of her building on a steel pipe.  A place we have not seen her before . A few minutes later in came dad and they both flew over to the nest box and went inside(vocalizing). Dad did not stay too long and off he flew over the heart building. He ended up perched on the south edge of the Newton apartments. There he stayed all night.
Mom stayed in the box for a while and then came out on the perch. We could not tell if there had been a food gift or not. She preened for a bit and then we saw her fly out and around the Newton place and scare a few pigeons ;D ;D . Then she ended up on the corner of the suite hotel  and then was gone . I started to go down to check on her when I saw dad turn around . And there was mom on the west side of the College Plaza, her builidng, perched way up on the side. Needless to say I scurried back up to the parade and we took lots of pcitures.  She stayed there the rest of the night.  She is indeed beautiful to watch.  At about 7:15pm she took off and went onto the ledge of her building. About 10 minutes later dad left in the same direction but we did not see him go on the ledge.

Of course, we rushed over to the area, it was very cool, and saw mom in the left corner of a ledge but no dad. We walked around to the front and this time walked way down the street so we could really see the ledges on the other side and there was dad on a top ledge.
We have discovered that dads building and the building they bed down on are the same building . It has many turns to it and  takes up a few blocks. It is called Windsor Park apartments. I could not believe how big it was . It just goes on and on.
So we have them both bedded down. Mom on a ledge on one side of the building and dad on a ledge on the opposite side. We learn new things every day.  Now we know that when we did not see one of them at night they were probably there.

There is very little activity anymore but I know they are resting and preparing for their long journey. I was reading that they will travel for 5 days without eating . Just stopping to rest , to get to their destination or close to it.

the nights are very cold but we are bundled up with mitts and all and I am sure people wonder about us.  I am surprised they have not reported us to the phsych  ward ;D ;D
It is supposed to warm up here now for a few days. by Monday it is to be 22 degrees. I wish the kids had stayed around for a bit more, but I picture them soaring high and seeing all the sights of North America. what a thrill that must be.
One thing we have noticed. How much nicer things look from up high.  they do get an amazing view.
Peter will download all the pictures sometime today. we have some nice ones of them soaring I think.

ask and you shall ;D receive.. ;D ;D

Thanks, Bev. It's nice to see her up close again.

While I watched this morning, she hopped inside to check over again that one slightly cleared corner.  Then she perched on the edge finishing her toilette.
