According to the chat, Mama Goose has 3 eggs but has only been turning 2 of the eggs, so it is thought that the 3rd egg is not viable.

According to the chat posts, Mamma Goose may have laid 4 eggs, but this has not been absolutely confirmed. At any rate, 1 of her eggs was stolen by a crow last weekend. This mamma has has alot of stress the past few years.

Thanks for letting us all know, Elaine! In past years, my Kinderchicklets have loved watching Mother Goose. Right now, she is just nesting quietly, with her head tucked in.

The Edmonton Journal Goosecam is back today.  We have had snow here on the weekend, so Mother Goose is doing her best to get as much fluff around the eggs as possible.  I hope for a good year for this goose family; last year, they had only one chick.  Here is the link to the Webcam:

Great, Kinderchick!  I know that when I was a little kid, all those long years ago, it was a movie like this (we didn't have videos back on those days) that helped to turn me into the animal-lover I am today.  I hope it will do the same for your kinderchicklets!

Missed the live event but what a wonderful video! Thanks for posting the link, Elaine. Will show it to my Kinderchicklets tomorrow. What a leap of faith, jumping down from way up high on those hay bales. I could almost imagine each little gosling saying, "you go next, no you go next, no you!"

This is a great video of the story of this year's goose family, and the final departure to the pond.  Those little ones are very courageous to take that great leap from the top of the hay bale.  I guess you have to be courageous when you are a migratory species.  And dad sure showed his mettle when he was called upon to do so!  (And he looked pretty proud of himself, as only a goose can look!)

Darn... missed the hatchings. But Mother Goose is still there, so she must be waiting for another hatch.

One chick came out climbed over mom's back and is exploring. And now he is back under her right wing.

The eggs are hatching.  I can see some little fluff balls, but I don't know how many we have.  I am sure Mother Goose will be moving about soon, and we will get a good look.
