Pchemist:
well. as we (not me, but someone) used to say in the Deep South:

"I'm fuller than a tick on a fat hound dog."

that's what those full crops remind me of.  :D

Alison:
It's getting crowded in the nest box now. The chicks all have full crops:

Alison:
It's good to see Alley with four babies. They are being well fed - two feedings within about 40 minutes this evening:

The Peregrine Chick:
Yup, perfectly explains why Alley was playing Peregrine A/C for her chicks!

Alison:

--- Quote from: The Peregrine Chick on May 20, 2009, 11:38 ---Do you know what the temperature was there when the photo was taken Alison?  The parents do that not so much as mantling (especially with a roof on their box) but usually as a sun-shade (not necessary here) or to catch & funnel air over the chicks - peregrine a/c if you like ...

The pics I posted were saved at (from the top): 19:21 p.m., 19:20 p.m., 20:10 p.m. and 20:27 p.m., Lincoln time. I cropped them rather than reduce them in size in order to show the babies better, but I still have the originals.

According to weather.com, the high in Lincoln on May 18 was 91 degrees F, and the low was 60 degrees F. There was no precipitation, and it was windy.

Hope this helps.
