I went back to last years threads to look up a good photo Bev put up of the nest box and the building it's on so I could remember where everything is positioned.

Here is the link to take you to that thread, scroll down and you will see the photo with the numbers on it, nestbox is under #3 and you can see the large roof Froona keeps looking down at and get an idea of how things look at the site.

Just got back from my shift at the CSB.  All was well.  This morning, Mr. Yellow took off from his perch on the building behind the CSB, and he and dad flew to the top corner at far end of the CSB, where Mr. Yellow has stayed.  Mr. Red is still on the near corner of the CSB, where he has stayed since his rescue yesterday evening - he has done a lot of wing-flapping and cat-walking, but is staying where he is.  Froona, as usual, has being making a big racket, especially whenever she catches sight of mom or dad; she has been doing lots of wing-flapping today, and boy, does she have a big wing spread.  So far, she is content to make a lot of noise and stay where she is.

This evening, there should be four of us down there on fledge watch.  Bev and Peter are taking a well-earned break for the night, I am happy to say.

Will report again after my evening shift, or tomorrow morning.

Oh look at her, poor girl.  She must see a parent up there, I think Bev said one of them perches up there. She looks so lonely  :-*  Wish one of the boys would go visit her.

It's so amusing to see these two attitude laden lone females remain after their brothers fledge.  So far they have each despite the vocals been good about waiting.
The glimpses of Froona flapping on the edge are reminiscent of Vesper wingercising on the vent cover.  Clever girls to keep themselves safe from unexpected gusts and accidental fledges.

There is just a wee bit left but it's more an visual indicator that she is ready to fledge .  I'm not really sure if biologically it makes a difference at this point as her flight feathers are now in, TPC could say for sure.  Because she is a female and is larger and heavier her muscles take longer to develop and strengthen than the males so it's good she is not in a rush to go.  I'd prefer to see all the fluff gone and I suspect it will be before she goes.

Camera 2 shows that she still has "fluff" on her head as well as still some in her back and wing feathers.  Does this really make a difference in any way when they fledge?
