would it be normal for a juvie to intrude on adult territory at this point in the season?

could it have been a merlin?

Thank you Lorac for giving us the news we were hoping for, and then even more.  Maybe you have an exciting evening ahead... all good exciting, I hope.

If it looked like a Juvie then I guess it couldn't be either Hope or Cassie from last year, could it?

Wouldn't think so - wouldn't the parents have recognized him - probably would have been feeding him along the way as he wouldn't have been able to manage on his own yet. Would be nice if he did reappear, though.

Okay I'll ask the stupid question. If it was a juvie intruder, any chance it could of been Mr. White who has been missing?

Oh, that is so good to hear.  Thank you so much for the update, lorac.  Interesting how mum herded everyone to a safe location.

Much too much drama, Lorac -- but your report was really welcome. It's so good to know that all of the chicks, Froona in particular given her last reported situation, are well and safe!

Good news!

I've just heard from Bev:

Bev and Peter arrived at the University at 5:30 this morning.  Froona was fine.  She had been able to lift off and was doing her best to achieve a nice high flight.  However, her brothers misunderstood her intent and thought she wanted to play, so they kept trying to play tag with her -- forcing her to fly low.  Anyway, all went well for a while and she ended up back on the Mazankowski.  HOWEVER ...

After things went well for a while, and just before the rain, there was an intruder!  Bev thinks it was a juvenile from somewhere who was chasing our adult male.  While this drama was unfolding, mom got all the kids over to Newton Place.  All is well now, though.  Our Lady Froona is safely on top of Newton Place -- where she can fly on and off with relative ease -- and Bev has accounted for three juveniles and two adults.

The drama!!

It's raining here in Edmonton right now, with a chance of thundershowers later, so I'm really hoping that she's soared again by now and is somewhere cozy with her brothers.  Bob and I won't be able to be there for another four hours (after work), so I'm hoping someone can update in the meantime.  It's a worry, for sure.

oh gees poor Froona, darn workers.
"darn" nothin' - d*** workers!!! She probably needs a little rest time to get up her nerve again. She is strong. We need to remember that!

If we hear something during the day, Carol or I will post an update. At the very least, we'll post something after our evening shift tonight. We're hoping, like the rest of you, that Froona gets the courage she needs to get airborne again.

Thanks backwards bob.   ;D  Appreciate that!   :-*
