Tell me about it!  I was thinking about George and Weezie this morning, that's weird!

Oh I hope everthing/every bird/everyone (BEV and MR. BEV and other spotters) are okay!!!

This waiting is agonizing...seems like only yesterday we were watching George and Weezie bringing sticks into this box  :-\

Yes, and apologies for the caps.  From what I could get from Bev, there has been some sort of fighting going on all afternoon and she thinks it's another adult pair - I expect with all that and 3 juvies - no doubt it's crazy down there.  She just asked we watch the box in case because she's not even sure it's still our parents who are there now...

I expect most of the fighting would be aerial but if we seen adult in the box..we can check the bands at least is what she is hoping for.

The only cam site for U of Alberta I know about is http://www.falconcam.med.ualberta.ca -- is that the one you're meaning, Carly? Can't see anything much other than the nest box.

WOW!!!!  What drama!

It would be nice to know who that "intruder" is/was?  I know that Mr. White hasn't been spotted in awhile, but it could be him.  But since he didn't stick around and Radisson rounded up the kids, then probably not.  However, as Carly wrote, there is another site.  I don't know the proximity between both sites, however is it a possibility that a juvie flew just a little too far?  Was it a juvie from last year?  Was it a merlin?
But aren't the questions wonderful....look what we are all asking. Pretty  8)

You know something just occured to me as I was typing that story about Miles and Surge forgetting him after 1 week.  How does that happen and then a juvie comes back a year later and the parent remembers them like the few in Europe that have done so?   Do European falcons have better memories??  Maybe Euro falcons can read and they recognize the band numbers?  :P

Yup, they are all pretty fast.  That's for sure.  The merlin would be the right colour too.

I'm thinking that a merlin would be fairly easy to spot as they are a lot smaller than a peregrine.

True but during fledge watch it can get confusing sometimes about what you see or who you see.  You've got 3 young to track, 2 adults and suddenly a parent starts alarming...birds are wizzing in all directions quite rapidly.

would it be normal for a juvie to intrude on adult territory at this point in the season?

could it have been a merlin?

Juvies are out exploring and expanding their horizons at this point - well depending on when they fledged but they wouldn't really know much about who's territory is where at this point.

Okay I'll ask the stupid question. If it was a juvie intruder, any chance it could of been Mr. White who has been missing?

Now I feel like crap, it never even occured to me that it might be him.  I sure hope it wasn't him and he got driven off :(.  Might just have been a juvie from another site out exploring, there is another site downtown there Bev said.

CPF told me that a juvie could last about week without food...not sure if they could go longer...TPC might be better qualified to answer that question.

That being said, his siblings would recognize him I think.  When one of juvies in Hamilton last year got hurt, he was in rehab about 1 week.  When they released him back to the nest site, the father attacked him thinking he was an intruder.  Miles was his name and so he fled to his brothers and when the male (dad) saw the brothers excepting him..he calmed down and then they accepted him back.
