Manitoba Peregrines > U of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
U of Alberta - 2009 / Damon & Radisson
bev.:
I have just come back form the site. was there for a few hours this afternoon.
No sign of falcons but these guys are huge.
I watched them and took some pictures. the female is getting all the sticks and the male stands guard across at the hospital building and the roof behind.
the big white thing the workers used yesterday is still beside the nest on the right side , which would make it easy to access the nest.
My concerns now are: I love my falcons but if the female comes back and goes to the nest box gung ho , she could be attacked from behind by the male raven. I watched for quite awhile today so she will not see him
Same goes if our male comes back first. Now most years one comes back before the other so it will be 2 against one and these guys are Huge
Now having said all that you do have to feel for these guys also, but there are so many spots for them to renest.
So as I take a deep breath , I hope my guys get here soon.
I did check out 2 other sites where our peregrines roost in Edmonton and they are not back either .
I am going to go into my archives now and see when they arrived 2007 and before. I know last year..

I thought that the same thing...working double time I mean!
I don't like this scenario at all now!!!
I don't want any harm done...seems to me that they are in a hurry!!!
This is a tough situation to be in...I don't know if I can watch now!

I wonder if she is 'with egg' already because they are working twice as fast as last time.

So, I guess it's going to be another waiting game to see what happens to this nest???
