I don't get a chance to post often but I have been reading along with everyone and I get tears in my eyes as you describe your days and the falcon antics - can't express how much we appreciate everyone's hard work - jealousy rears its ugly head though when I can't be there to see what you are seeing. Thanks so much to absolutely everyone involved in the watching and the reporting. It has been an amazing time. May the force be with all of you - peregrine and human.

What dodobird said - and in spades!!!

Peter, Mr. Bev, don't you think it is time you joined the forum? You are definitely one of us! ;D :o ;D You must be at least a fledgling by now! ;D

Thank you Bev and Mr Bev for the updates.  Let's hope it's clear sailing from here on in!  Now that it's all over, it must have been quite amazing to see!  I'm very happy that our girl Radisson and dad Damon prevailed - and happy no one was fatally injured either.

Wonderful to hear the kids are flying well and our girl Froona!!  You go girl!

Wonderful update mr. bev. Now the fun begins. You get to just enjoy the flying, calling, games, training and seeing them become adults. Everyone in Edmonton deserves a huge round of applause and many congratulations.
Bev, Peter, Eli, Lorac and Bob, my most sincere thanks. :-*

Bev called today and says that everything seems back to normal today.  All three chicks are flying well, playing, touching beaks, and playing tag.  One of the chicks, I believe Mr. Red, as a peculiar quirk, in that he likes to knock dad/mom off of his/her perch.  He does this on a consistant basis at certain times of the day.  Dad/Mom, for some reason don't seem to mind but one of these days he will get his if he isn't carefull.  He is quite the rascal.

Will be joining Bev down there this evening and just watch the fun.  The critical stage is over now as they are all flying well.  We can just hope now that they keep from having accidents and enjoy the rest of their stay here before their migration.  We plan on monitoring them on a fairly regular basis --  Not quite as much as we have been though.  I don't think either of could maintain that.  We will keep you posted.

Good Day.  Mr. Bev here.  Just to update you all on what has been going on.  The last couple of days have been hectic.  We finally got Froona "off the ground".  She is a very strong flyer, however had issues with height for the first couple of days.  She ran into a few buildings but does not seem the worse for wear.  She finally managed the top of Newton place which is one of the higher buildings in the area.  Since then she has been flying well and doing great.  One of the issues that she did have was that on one of her maiden flights, her brother decided that he wanted to play tag, thinking that she could fly as well as he could.  He darn near knocked her out of the sky.  She is now playing tag and flying well with her brothers and the family seems to be taking to the education building at the U OF A.

The other issue was the intruders.  At first we were really confused until we started to witness the mid air fights.  They were quite amazing and I even caught some on film.  Bev will post when she gets a chance.  It appears to us that through the several fights that occurred, the original male and female prevailed and are at the sight.  It was amazing to see how they seemed to move the chicks to the Ed building out of harms way and kept them together through all this.

BOT Here's to you Bev, cheers!  Many thanks for all your dedication to these falcons and to us here on the forum.  That also goes to Mr. Bev, Carly, Eli, backwards Bob and Lorac and all the other fledge watchers for making this season a successful one.  Everything you've done is greatly appreciated.   :) :)

Thanks Eli for the update. So happy to hear that things have settled down for the birds. And even happier to hear that Bev and Peter are going to take some time for themselves.

Just got a call from Bev; she is down at the site, but has moved over to the Education Building (a block or so away from the original site), where our youngsters are now perched.  All three of them are on different corners, Bev says, while mom is on the Suite Hotel across the street, and dad took off south a few minutes ago, presumably to find some food, or perhaps to inspect all corners of his territory.

She does not know who the intruder falcons were, but Radisson did get into a fight with the other female; it was not a serious fight, Bev says, more like a "get out of my territory" scuffle, and the talons were out, but no injuries were sustained from what Bev could see.  She heard that these intruders may be a falcon couple that apparently have taken up residence at a cemetery further south of the University, but no one knows for sure.  They are gone now, and are not expected to return, as both dad and mom defended their territory vigorously.

So everything is fine at this point, which is really good, because both Bev and Peter are still pretty tired, and events of the last three days have been nerve-wracking.  Now she expects to have more time to relax and just enjoy our falcon family.  She will be down there today until late this evening, and she says that after today, barring any unusual event, she and Peter will not go down to the site as often, and she will not stay as long.  She will report back to this forum, as she did last year, and she will post pictures.

She says that she has not taken to drink yet, but if you want to donate to a fund for this purpose, she is willing to go for it.

I will be down there this evening, so either I or Bev or Mr. Bev will report back after.

After all that has gone on, I hope that you can have a peaceful time ahead and that the stressful times are now gone. Keep up the good work and Bev try to take some time out to catch your breath and revitalize, easy to say but hard to do.

Whew, what a relief that the drama has finally settled down.
Thanks to everyone involved for keeping us up to speed.

Bev.  We miss you too!!  I hope you get some much needed rest very soon.  Things should settle down for you now that Froona has her wings.

I honestly don't know what would have happened here if there was that much drama.  We don't have nearly the bodies that you do to keep watch over our wee ones and so far, so good for us.

Hope today is a peaceful one for all you watcher there!!!

Thank you Bev for all you've done and continue to do. :-* Get some rest though. Now the Froona is flying well, take some time and sleep, relax, and be calm. Don't want you wearing yourself out.

just a quick note.

Hopefully Peter can update you today.
I have been too tired .

The intruders would not be from Weber building as Miss Edmonton has her site now.

We have some cute pictures and they are downloaded form camera and will try to post some tonight or tomorrow.

Froona has been expected to fly like a pro and she is producing. She is doing what it took her brothers a week to learn.  fingers are crossed that the drama is over, but please keep an eye on nest box.

We have never had this type of thing happen at this time of year.

did not want to leave befroe they tucked in last night but needed some rest.
I am off so have a great day. :-* :-* :-*

I have missed reading and being on the rest of the forum.
