Calgary is about a 3 hour drive from Edmonton, depending if you want a ticket or not. ;D
Calgary always arrives before Edmonton, so ours should be here soon.  there is a nest site at the University of Calgary. the female had a transmitter and they had to change batteries but could not last year as she had her  chicks  already.

I did not get there today but will tomorrow for sure. I had 3 batches of Easter bread to make. Just done now.

I hope our male is O.K.
They are late for Calgary so ....

Calgary is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from Edmonton?? - Around there anyway. - so as the 'Peregrine' flies, it would be shorter!! :o

Two peregrine falcons have been sighted in Calgary, Alberta - near the University there.  I am just poking around the internet to see if Alberta has any sightings at all yet and found that-there is a nest site there so might be their pair.  Someone spotted them on Wednesday of this week.

Not sure of the distance between Calgary and Edmonton but might give us a hint as to whether any are headed here.

Announcement on site by biolgists

Current News - April 7th, 2009 - Those ravens are fast! As many viewers noticed, as soon as University workers removed the nest on Friday, the ravens started rebuilding it again! In continued preparation for the peregrines return from Colombia, Gord Court and company removed the nest today once again.

April 3rd, 2009 - A few days ago we noticed that a couple of ravens had begun to make a nest within our peregrine box! Thank you to the viewers who brought this to our attention. After speaking with our esteemed biologist Gordon Court, it was decided that the nest could be removed to discourage the ravens from settling down. The ravens pose little to no threat to the peregrines, as the nest will almost certainly be reclaimed by peregrines upon their return. So please, do not be worried! Friday April 3rd some University staff removed the twigs, getting rid of the ravens nest entirely. Hopefully they do not rebuild as the peregrine falcons should be back anytime now!

Perhaps an alarm system wired right to the police station.  Or to the biologists, at least!  lol

Well the problem is there really is no hint cept for the pesky humans and really, who pays attention to those creatures with the bad hair  :P.  Had there been falcons there, they'd have flown right on by but instead they see a vacant house, with a balcony, nice view...can't say I blame them.

Perhaps next year, the 'owners' might consider some *ahem* doors to the place.

I don't think they're gonna 'Move Over' at all - sure wish they had, but the way it looks - no way.  :( - It's a no-win situation, we just have to hope for the best - somehow! :-\

I wish they'd get the hint!  I'm glad to see there's no egg there.  I would really have a problem then.  I have no doubt about who I want to watch there this summer, but I don't want a battle either.  Move on over, George and Weezie!

I am staying silent here but I saw the same thing and wondered.  I will be going down tomorrow.

Yeah it was the way she looked, maybe one of the falcons is out there assessing the situation.  I might just be paranoid tho  :-X

Weezie has been in the box for awhile and then just spent some time looking like she heard something and she kept looking up...either it was George or perhaps a falcon has come home.  she is back sitting but I wonder what she was looking at.

Ravens can have up to 7 eggs, and only mom incubates, so it will be different from the falcons for sure.

Imagine how crowded this box would get if the ravens really do brood here!
