Thanks for the update Eli - it kinda drives home the fact that attempting to get the ravens to evacuate is a good thing to do for their own safety - problem is, they're not being very cooperative about it!!.... If the falcons had shown up a week earlier, before egg laying began, G&W probably would have been long gone and safe by now. :-\
Elaine L:
Now that I know that not knowing what is happening at the nest site is worse than knowing, I went down there last night. The male raven had just finished escorting the female back to the nestbox when both falcons swooped down and attacked him, dive-bombing him on top of the building where he had taken refuge; if he had panicked, they would have got him. I think he had flattened himself down pretty well, and he stuck like glue to the top of the building. After numerous fly-overs and dives to get at him, the falcons took off, then he stuck his head up and started cawing at them, and they came back and gave it another go. After that, he must have figured it was better to keep his opinions to himself, and he laid low. After a few minutes, he popped up and checked out where the falcons were, saw that the coast was clear, and flew over to a crevice close to his lady-love, and that was the last I saw of him. The falcons, meanwhile, positioned themselves on the top of near-by buildings where they could keep an eye on things, but by then it was getting dark, so I do not expect that they attacked again.

Yes - well said allikat. Everyone feels badly for G&W, but in the end, the upset that's happening right now in the nest is for their own good. :-\

I feel terrible about what's going on in this nestbox. Poor George & Weezie and now another egg! :(
After the removal of the second nest, I truly thought they would just move on, I guess I was hoping they would have a chat with each other and decide this was just too dangerous for them as well as their eggs/babies.
I know there have been several "difference of opinions" on what should go on at this site, but if George were to get badly injured or killed, which he seems to have avoided several times, Weezie would be on her own trying to defend her nest. And I think we all know that she wouldn't be able to do that with two falcons against her. I can honestly say, I don't think any one of us would want to witness that.
I know that it was hard and heartbreaking to open up the site, see an empty nest and Weezie walking back and forth wondering what happened...but to the Ravens, it was a failed nest attempt.
My, and several others, heart would stop if we all of sudden heard that George was killed or one of the falcons got injured, OR BOTH!
I am sympathetic to both parties involved, but when we take human emotion out of it and think logically, the human invasion/intervention is merely trying to avoid two falcons and two ravens fight to the death.
