Did the egg just move while I was reading?  I was going to comment that it looked moved, and now it's changed again.

Pffftt..I've seen neither hide nor feather of a falcon here today when I had time to watch.

What's that? - Like a victory dance at having won the battle over their property? - or a declaration of ownership?  :)

I e-mailed a report to the biologists and one wrote me back and told me the fast flight I saw was a nest box display.

He sees it in the Rankin Inlet all the time.

Learn something new every day.

That is what I am hoping too, Maggie.(about transmitter girl)

Now that they know they are indeed visiting the nest box they will probably try and ID.

I know what you mean Carly about differences at different times of the year.
that is why I am kicking myself that I did not push to stay until they bedded down. Because that is a tell all for me.

I am hoping it is Radisson also. we will hire a maid this year. Or borrow Tracy's hoe ;D ;D

and I am hoping it is the male tpp.

It was funny last night becasue I felt helpless that i could not capture shots on my computer :) :) :)

Morning Bev and all.  About the identity...I was so excited at first to finally see a falcon in the nestbox that I didn't really take in the details, just went to post so others could look too ( and hopefully someone who could capture a picture).  When I looked in for the second time I thought that I should try to take in the details for a potential identification.  The part above the beak (technical term here ?) was a bright gold with a little bit of white above.  Quite a large yellow rim aroung eyes appearing wider towards the front.  Silver band on bird's right leg, couldn't get a clear look at the left. I just checked the Edmonton photo gallery pictures of the male and it certainly looked like him.  I hope that the biologists or someone else will be able to ID this pair soon, as I am sure that after everything that has gone here in recent years we would all really like to know that Radisson is back and O.K.
I am also hoping for the best for the transmiitter girl.  After two years of having "her tailfeathers handed to her" perhaps she won't come back to the nestbox but look for another location and male.

They might just have different roosting spots during incubation and eyases in the box time.  With my pair here, after having watched them for 1 year straight now - I have noticed that in the Spring (now) dad will sit on the ADP sign, he sits on the A when he's watching and when he defeathers and eats he does it on the curve where the D meets P.  Once the young have fledged, he does not sit there at all - which had me confused all winter.  I thought oh my god he's gone, it's not the same male!  But now soon as the eggs were laid, he's back on the sign every day in his old routine.

I hope Radisson or dad comes to the box today, I'm anxious to see them again!

Not to be the devils advocate or not but now to see if this is the  same pair I have been seeing.

It was strange the way they came in.  And where they were before they went to the nest building.
I wish I could have stayed and seen where they turned in . I guess all in due time.

I have never really gone down at the beginning of the season before.  Not this early anyhow.  I usually let things take care of themselves, but the Raven issue had me down there.

Now it is a wait and see.
It was dusk by the time they came in so it was hard to really get a good look at who they were. Peter said too dark for pictures. and they were so silent.

the egg is still there.
Be interesting to see when they remove it.

Wow Bev, after all that has gone on in the last week this is so great.  ;D
I saw one and went to post.  Then my internet went out.  When I got back on there was one in the box. After reading your report that they both came in for a visit I don't know if it was the same one.  I did try to get a look at the bands.  All I could see was a silver band on the right leg.  I also noticed that the falcon was looking down below and I wondered if she/he was watching Bev.   ;D

Well, I was going to phone CArly but it would have been 10:30 her time and I thought she  might be in bed.

Well, Good old Peter consented to us going down  tonight ,and we were blessed. Oh yes, we were.
WE got there about 6:00pm and knew we were going to have to wait.

I did see the female raven not too far from the sight .(just  so you know)

Peter went and got us a nice romantic dinner of Chile from Hortons and we sat on a sand box on the parkade and ate.

And then we waited.

Well at 8:20pm I spotted my first falcon. It came flying from the east like a bat out of heck, beyond the nest building and then soared around and then along came another going just as fast.
I thought , they are sure quiet . Are they ours or is there a chase.

Of course, Peter has gone to check their night spot and missed it.

Then they both started  coming  back. And if your cam was up you would have seen one fly by the box at about 8:21pm . I thought it was going in.
But it checked it out   because it flew   so close, and then they were both off like a flash to the north east.
Then they came back , and one was on the Power building( kitty corner to the Ed building) and I knew and the other was somewhere by Campus tower(I think when I have been posting I may have posted campus tower and meant college plaza. College Plaza is the females building. Campus tower is down by Suite hotel

Anyway Peter and I went to see them and just as we got there , the one from the power building flew off in the direction of the nest box.Peter walked quickly back  and  I watched the one on the corner of Campus tower. Now why they were there I do not know. (they would  not share that with me)

The one  from the Campus tower then flew off and back towards the nest building, so I ran across a don't walk and made a B-line for the clinical science.
And you guys are worried about shouting Nest on the West.  I am waiting for them to put me in the Psych ward

There was my better half watching. One was in the nest box and one was on the side of the heart building back to us. I think it was the female in the nest box.

After a bit the one in the nest box sat on the perch and then flew off and sat on the street side of the clinical science building. The other one flew off the heart building and went into the nest box and then flew off to see the female.
Then it went and sat on a light on the heart building.

Well, Peter said we did not need to them tuck in and I was not going to argue.

So I am hoping they are RAdisson and the male from last year.

I have to e-mail the biologists becasue now they can get out their scopes.

I am praying the transmitter girl does not come back to the nest building.
so watch your cams and maybe we can see the bands or tell if it is RAdisson.
Did they take the eggs out???

I am so excited.  they were still on the buildings when we left.
