Do peregrines actually eat gravel, like chickens do? ???

Apparently they do, helps with digestion...kinda like your fibre does for humans I hear.  TPC, do I have that right?

bcbird:
It looked to me that two chicks were being fed, a pipped egg in front of them and another egg barely glimpsed behind them.

kittenface:

Mom? doing a great job of hiding the chicks while she reaches for gravel, and seems to be obsessed with eating it. At one point she leaned so far she rolled over, but with her back to the camera, so still no sight of chicks. Then she stood up, settled her feathers and turned around. There was one egg out in front of her. She looked at it for a moment, as if saying "What is that doing out there?", then rolled it back under, and actually stood high enough that I could see two chicks (could have been more, couldn't tell). Now she has settled down, except for the occasional glare at the camera.
