The male got up, stood briefly on the perch and then flew off.  He is now back after a few minutes, and is settling over the eggs  again.    

Elaine L:
The male is still on the eggs, he is loyal and courageous, but he cannot do this by himself, and with no sign of the female, we have to assume she is injured or deceased, as she would never stay away this long.  This is so heart-breaking.  And no word from anyone at Elk River.
