susha:
Thanks for your voice of reason (as always) TPC.  We all want what's best for the birds, after all, and must just be patient, knowing that they're in good hands.

carly:
Points taken TPC and no worries - I am not going to bother them with questions.  Bob has an excellent reputation helping out the falcons, he's the biologist and he's saved many a bird in nests down there so I trust whatever they have planned will be in the best interests of the species.

The Peregrine Chick:
This is just a suggestion from a coordinator of a similar project and while this will not be news or new to most everyone, I'm going to put on my coordinator hat and say it out loud any way.

Since GRE has taken the cam image off their official website that would seem to indicate that they are concerned enough about what is coming or could happen that they don't want to broadcast it live to the world.  It is also entirely possible that they have been fielding so many queries/demands that they have had to take the image down purely for self-preservation.

Since you have the unofficial link and if you decide to keep watching it, my suggestion would be to not send inquiries or concerns to GRE or the project.  When they have things sorted or things sort themselves out, we will get an official statement.  As noted elsewhere on this thread, there are plans in place but no plan is foolproof and things that can go wrong do go wrong even when everything that can be done is being done and done properly.  My suggestion is to just watch and wait and hope for the best.  The project folks and GRE has been very good with/for these peregrines but too much negative publicity or public demands (particularly when we know they are working on a solution) could be enough to make all those involved reconsider the value of a cam on this nestbox - particularly when there are lots of peregrine cams out there now.

Do hope they manage to save the eggs and help out the male, he's had a tough slog of it so far, even though he's been through something similar in the past.

Sue:
I tried the original link and it seems to be working. Dad is lying on the eggs and looking around a bit but very little movement. Sure hope he gets some food soon!! :-[

carly:
They aren't there yet, the site cam is black though but there is a wmp link I'm using and I can see dad dozing on the eggs.  They are an hour behind EST so it's 9:30 ish there.  Should be something happening soon I expect.  (I don't usually use the alternate links as I respect how that can cause issues however I was worried so I have it up just for now.) They might be on site and preparing though I expect.

I'll let you know if anything happens.  Poor dad just got up and had a hard time standing, his legs got tangled up under him but he's readjusting his position. Now he's eating pebbles  :-\
