At least one of the adult birds seems to know how to feed. It may look like the chicks aren't getting much, but they are only a few days old, and we're probably getting used to seeing the massive amounts being swallowed by the Radisson four!

I think all the chicks got fed at least a little bit, but they are just little and probably don't really need to eat a lot.

Perhaps the chick that appears dead and can hardly get up to feed was only hatched overnight??  Not sure when the fourth hatch happened.

Goodmorning folks.  I've been watching a feeding this morning and this mom seems to be lost in terms of how to feed the chicks.  She really struggles with which screaming chick should get the little bite so she ends up swallowing it herself.  Over and over again. One chick in the middle of the feeding frenzy appeared to be dead then after quite some time got up but is now lying down again.  I'll be amazed if four chicks survive and fledge.  I found this early morning feeding hard to watch, 6:15'ish. If anyone else has observed a feeding I'd be interested to know how it went.

Whether Dad or another male - sure hopes he brings food. Would hate to see another failure at this nest this year.

For first time Mums, it is not unusual for there to be problems in the beginning (tab a into slot b kind of thing) but when they do it, it clicks and its as if they have been doing it forever!

I can no longer view this Cam at work, but I checked on the Bird Cams Around the World site to see what is happened here.  The postings there indicate that everyone was worried about Dot and the way she was treating the chicks, but eventually she figured out what to do when the chicks crawled towards her, and she fed them, even though it wasn't clear whether she was feeding them or pecking at them.  As of this morning, though, she seems to have figured it all out, and the site says that all the chicks are alive and have been fed.  As for Dad, no one seems to know if this is original dad or a new dad.

Seems to be three chicks under Dot, but she is really rough with them; I just saw her peck at one to move it further under her, and it did not seem to be moving at all; and I saw the male earlier as he came in, looked around, and left, and I am not certain if this was Dad or a different male, as this male did not seem to have the full black cap.  I just don't know what's what anymore.

If the first lot of eggs had hatched (abandoned when the female disappeared), there would have been chicks closer in age.

I'm so glad you mentionned this Sami, I thought there had been eggs laid much earlier at this site!! Thank you!

If the first lot of eggs had hatched (abandoned when the female disappeared), there would have been chicks closer in age. It's just fortunate that Dot came along in time for the second lot of eggs to be laid and hatched. Right now there looks to be an egg pushed aside - maybe just a large piece of shell. Dot keeps looking around but isn't about too move to let anyone get a look. (At least I think it's Dot).

Hard not to think of 2008 when the Elk River chicks were the same age as the Radisson chicks ... and this year they are so much younger :)

Shift change.  Three chicks and one egg ;)
