The Peregrine Chick:
Oh my gods, there really is a peregrine! :o
Its not a figment of your imaginations .... ;)
eagle63_1999:
Looks like the female in the nestbox, I don't think she has any legs bands either. She been vocalizing a wee bit from time to time. Other than that, nothing to tell.
The Peregrine Chick:
--- Quote from: Eli on March 24, 2009, 12:14 ---Our Minnesota falcon was just in the nestbox, having a snack. Another falcon came in, grabbed the food and took off, but our first falcon did not seem to mind, so I presume this is her/his mate. I wish I knew if these are the same falcons from last year. And as the chicks from last year were banded, I hope we find out what happened to Chase, Bullet and Lightning.
--- End quote ---
I wouldn't hold my breath Eli, we mostly don't hear anything about the chicks after they have fledged unless dead, injured (neither of which is good news) or nesting and identified, which doesn't happen as often as we'd like. And the highest mortality occurs in the first year. Now that I have been pessimistic, I will see what I can find out from my sources in case the Elk River folks don't mention it on the webcam site ....

Hey Eli, I caught that too. 8) I think that we may just have seen part of the courship ritual as he appeared to be calling out to her to come and accept his offering. At least, I think that was what was happening and that would mean that things are progressing nicely here. Isn't it part of the deal to show that he can be a good provider?
