MN / Elk River - 2008-22
Liz:
Elaine, I didn't hear it then, but was it like neverending train brakes screeching on rails?
Elaine L:
The last egg was laid on April 29, so I expect that we should have hatching on Thursday or Friday of next week. We will have an excellent view of the hatching with this great camera close-up!
Elaine L:
There is some ungodly racket going on here now. It does not seem to disturb Mrs. Sawatske (or Elke), but she seems to be looking at something. It sounds like a combination of a drill and some grinding instrument. We can't see the larger area to see if we can identify the noise, so perhaps we will get an explanation later from the folks at Elk River.
Liz:
Wow, have they ever zoomed in! Thanks for the heads-up, Eli.
Ditto, it will be great when the chicklettes arrive, but it's a bit bit eerie with the adult at full zoom isn't it?!
Elaine L:
Sawatzke is in the nest box right now, and he looks very disconcerted; and no wonder, there is some funny noise that I can't make out, and neither can he, it seems. He jumped out the nestbox, looking up, went back in, very alert right now. The noise almost sounds like something has come loose from up on top of the nestbox; of course, now that we would like to see what is going on outside the box, we are in close-up mode.
