Sometimes when dad sits on our webcam his side feathers- the petticoat part- graze the lens and that's what it looks like...that's why I assumed it was feathers and maybe dad nearby awaiting a hatch.

hopefully I'll get another chance to see before nightfall but I'm betting there will be a fuzzy little one at sunrise!

about a half hour ago, parent bird left and it wasn't a shift change, and I saw a hole chipped in one egg and movement inside. although the wind is shaking the cam a bit, that egg moved independently. definitely the beginning folks!
