I am sorry I have not been here this year to update
very busy. but I promise , I will come back early august, and I will give you a run down . But today Gord( Doctor Cour)t tried to go up and band. Radisson was more ornery than ever. , our bander could not even poke his head out. She would not move from the cam. Nowif you know Gord, he always bands ; he has head wound etc ;but they could not today
So we will have chicks not banded .
last night when Lisa went up to check on U of A, Radisson was on a pillar above box, and Chase on maz. Lisa saw another falcon circling above and it tried landing in a ledge at CP ( a roost building across from nest box) It then went around CS ( our nest building) and knocked radisson from her perch, Radisson quickly recovered and went back up. Chase stayed put on the Maz , building adjacent.
So , we have had a floater at both Weber and U of A. and we think it is a youngster.
this could be why she was more cantankerous today than normal.
So it looks like our chicks will not be banded.
We had 4 chicks but one passed , with the extreme heat we have been having. So fledge will be quite the chore this year.
It has been unusually hard this year without a cam. We have had some good people trying to keep an eye on U o f A. I have not been able to go as often as normal as life , with covid, has been a very busy one for us. ( Tracy knows why)
so I will be back, with hopefully lots of good news.
Stay well, be safe.
