The Peregrine Chick:
The third falcon egg arrived last night. Eggs have arrived in the following order:
* 1st egg - 3/29 at 3:10 a.m.
* 2nd egg - 3/31 at 12:50 p.m.
* 3rd egg - 4/2 at 8:50 p.m.
If that pattern holds true, and there is a fourth egg, we should expect it sometime early on Friday. Incubation typically lasts 29 to 33 days, so we anticipate the first egg to hatch close to the first of May.
the Manitoba grand-kids in Topeka are certainly getting down to business quickly - faster than their parents in Lincoln!
The Peregrine Chick:
From our friends in Kansas ...
Nemaha and Boreas, the same falcon pair as the previous two years have returned to the nest box. Egg number #1 arrived sometime early this morning (3/29/2013). Peregrine's lay three to four eggs, which we expect over the next several days. The front and side falcon cams may be viewed on our website. We ask that if you are not actively viewing the cams that you close your internet browser window to help with bandwidth costs. Thanks for viewing!

2013 NESTING SEASON
From the folks at Westar Energy ...
We're gearing up for the 2013 falcon season. The falcon cam is now up and running and we've made some modifications to the nest box in hopes for a successful season. Peregrine falcons generally nest around mid-March and have been spotted in the downtown Topeka area recently.
The falcon cam may be viewed on our website. We'll continue to send emails and update the webpage as the season progresses. Thanks for viewing!
