Alison:
After their release, one of the chicks took off from the roof immediately. The other chick remained there, and as far as is known has not yet fledged.

The chick who fledged returned to rejoin her sibling. Denise Lewis from Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery has now confirmed that the fledglings are both girls. I think they are charming and beautiful.

The two Mutual of Omaha chicks have now been released.

I hope these two beautiful chicks/fledglings will stay safe from now on.

Alison:
Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery had decided not to release the Mutual of Omaha chick until after July 4, which I think was a very good decision.

Meantime, her brother has now joined her at Fontenelle Forest. He took his first flight yesterday, was rescued and is in care with his sister. He is uninjured. He will be banded tomorrow morning, and both siblings will be released back at the nest around noon tomorrow.

Thank you for reporting this, Alison. I'm very thankful the chick wasn't injured and was rescued in time.
