What a beautiful site that is!
I have to apologize to the falcon fanatics...
Normally, I'm right in there getting involved, stalking them, twisting and turning my neck and feeling it the next day.
Just can't get out as much as I would like, new job = much greater responsibilities!
I do however, still stick my head out of the window while driving by their location ( :P)
I have heard them, and watched them flying about, unfortunately, from a distance, but does it ever put a massive smile on my face ( ;D), they always do and always will.
Sorry Ms. D, I wish I could be out there more with you.  :-[

So with no further ado ... Andamooka watching over her kids ...

Seems to me she'd feel right at home on Hurricane's tower in Brandon so it is good thing that she has her own!

Thank you for posting the photo by VMann, TPC. How nice to see that Andamooka has “her own” tower! However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a fledgling or two (or even four) decide to use “her” tower for a while. :D

sorry about blowing the surprise.   I thought if you weren't I would.

No surprise, I just know how folks here suffer with ENS (empty nest syndrome)  ;) and from here on in there aren't many photos available until the parents (if the parents) return to the nestboxes to hang out a bit!   That and I like to ensure the photographers get the photo credit.

Tracy I got the same photo earlier today from a friend.  His boss is the photographer.   There was also a picture of Adamooka on a cell tower.  will you post that photo as well?

I will, just thought I would save that for a couple of days since it is getting so quiet around here ... but now that the cat is out of the bag  ;), will post later today

you are very welcome.
the window the chick was flapping at is the only broken window.  Only really room for 1 bird at a time.  There was a bird also sitting on the 5th window but I'm not sure if it was an adult or a chick.  there was no flapping when I saw that bird.

there is a chick on the 7th window trying out its wings.  A parent keeps flying by teasing it.

Went back through my records to refine some of the dates and best estimates are they are about 40-42 days old right now.  Andamooka is not part of the small Radisson line of chicks, she's a big bird for Manitoba and her mate Jasper is from who knows where but as he's unbanded, it reduces the number of possibilities from Manitoba - though not entirely outside the realm of possibility given that most, if not all of the Saskatchewan birds at the moment, are from Manitoba.  Having said all that, Andamooka's chicks are likely bigger than ours so 40-50 days is probably a more realistic age range for fledging.  And yup, they are in it now.  I know folks in Regina were watching one of the kids testing it's wings on Sunday but the other chicks weren't visible yet.

I haven't been down to City Hall in awhile.
When should the chick's be fledgling?

If they were banded the last week in June they would be a little older or the same age as the McKenzie chicks, so they should be old enough to fledge.

Heard to day that Jasper and Andamooka have 2 female and 2 male chicks this year!  They were banded last week.  Don't know if they will get names, but will post if they do.  May also have a photo to share later ...  ;D

Was trying to get downtown this morning, but my job got in the way...bah!   :-X

Did someone else happen to make it there this morning?  (M.D.?)

I'm looking forward to potentially seeing 6 birds flying around soon!
All of them can't hide from me....can they?! :-\

Oh, and they named their unbanded male Jasper in keeping with Andamooka's name.  For those who don't remember, Andamooka is the name of a very famous opal that was given to Queen Elizabeth II by the people of Australia.  Jasper is also a gemstone, the name means "spotted or speckled stone" which, given that peregrines have spots/speckles on them seems appropriate.  They are also found world-wide, just like the peregrines.

I also checked out some of the more esoteric meanings/uses for jasper and I'm not she he will care that it will protect and stabilize his chakra and protect him in both the physical and spiritual realm.  But then again, who knows ...

Andamooka's and Jasper's chicks will banded Wednesday morning.  Security is strict at City Hall as you might imagine a government building is, so it looks like just the bander will be going up.  He will be taking some photos while he is there and has said he will share them when he can.

That's all that there was in the email I got this evening.

Look what we have here?!  :-*
Thank you for posting this RCF!
I live here and didn't even know that they had eggs, now there are 4 chicks!!!

Right place - wrong time.  :-\

Now, instead of trying to find two adults, (wasn't a common thing), maybe I'll have better luck when there are 6 flying around, (odds seem fairly good  :P)

Peregrine falcons return to Regina's city hall after years of absence

Bits of white fluff, with a big beak — four peregrine falcon chicks may have a face only a mother can love, but some think the chicks are a thing of beauty, including Regina resident Pat Thompson.

He's delighted that a pair of falcons have made their home atop Regina's city hall for the second year in a row.

Will the Regina chicks be banded by anyone, TPC? :-\

They were last year by a friend of mine so I'm assuming he's doing it again this year - City Hall unlike Saskatoon is an accessible nest - not unlike the Radisson in fact.

Thanks RCF - was doing some last minute posting before heading out for the Radisson & Logan bandings this morning

I also received a couple of photos but need to get permission to post - hope to post them here tomorrow - one of a chick pile the other of Andamooka's unbanded mate.  And Dennis gave me some photos from his Regina trip today so I'll post one from there too so you all can see the whole family.

I'm sitting here behind city hall and both birds are flying around for the last 20 minutes.  it's pretty breezy out.

Sounds like a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Guess you do not know if they have a nest or chicks?

Unfortunately, I do not yet know where all their "hiding" places are, so it's tough to know where to look.  Tricky buggers!

You aren't alone Allikat - Dennis had a hard time finding/tracking them when he was out there too!

No additional news yet from the folks in Regina ... but it early days yet for this pair - only just a month since we thought Andamooka's mate (or new mate) returned.  We believe same as last year because he is unbanded.

Will post updates if I receive any - though, likely Allikat will hear things first!!  :)

Well....thank birdies ( ;)) for Dennis' visit and photos!!!  Thanks Bob!!!  :-*
Sorry Forum Followers, I have been out of town for a couple of weeks, and was unable to be on the lookout.
I did however, do some walkabouts on Tuesday, and Wednesday, to check up on the birds....saw absolutely nothing.
Big surprise!!!   ::)
I hope to get out over the weekend to have a look-see!!!

Good thing I'm retired since the Manitoba territory now includes Saskatchewan, lol...recent road trip West and a visit to Regina to visit family...and since I was in the area thought I should try and locate the birds.
Did confirm the male is un-banded...who knows he could even be one of the Radisson birds that didn't get banded ?
Andamooka was less than cooperative on the couple day's that I was watching as I was only able to get photos of her back...only able to confirm the bird has an antenna.

Oh man...instant smile on my face, which turned to joy when I actually saw them!
Yes folks, them = plural!

How exciting. 8)

You've certainly been falcon searching for a long time Allikat, and I'm so happy you were finally able to spot "them"!

I'm looking forward to further reports of Andamooka and her friend.

I'm very happy for you, allikat!

Allikat is correct, just heard through the grapevine that a second bird is back in Regina but not if it is last year's male or heck even a male at all but it is likely.  Will let folks know what I hear which in addition to what Allikat can report from on-site should have us keeping up on all the details of Andamooka and her family.  :)

Andamooka may have a friend!
I wish I could have taken the credit to witnessing this, but I can't.
These birds hide from me on purpose and have for years - buggers!
But, someone had luck today and believes she spotted two.
I'm officially calling her Hawkeyes!!!   :o

I did take a drive downtown last Saturday and today.
I can tell you this folks, I seem to be a master at not seeing anything.
Or, all the Peregrines get together down South, and chat about how funny it is to hide from their viewers!  LOL!
It's still early, so...with any luck, I'll actually get a glimpse sooner than later!

Just heard from the folks out in Regina and it looks like Andamooka has returned to Regina's City Hall.
Don't know if her mate is back but she's such a beautiful bird (darker than ours here) that I'm sure she'll have no trouble finding a new friend.
Fingers crossed this year is as successful as last year for her and her family.
