Chicks were banded this morning. Dennis has a new girlfriend ... Mama Faith likes to try and hit which just makes Dennis' day! Cowboy was the last bird who was so willing to do bodily harm to us. Three chicks, two males and one female. All like to fight and spit. Good for a peregrine but meant Dr Bob got another band-aid today - just a wee little one but it was on the same hand as last time so it was insult to past-injury! Chicks did not want to get out of the nestbox, did not want to be banded and did not want to get back in the nestbox when we were done.
Faith and Ty make a good pair - she is ferocious like Joli (but Joli doesn't hit) and Ty is just the same but he doesn't hit, he keeps you in sight at all time so Faith can get low and come in fast without them losing sight of the danger. These two are fun to watch - they kept expecting us to come back and he parked himself at the nestbox with the kids and she just kept circling quietly above like a great white shark waiting for bait. I hope (knock on wood) their chicks do well, I think they may have some kick genetics. Hopefully one of them has some housekeeping genes - the WW birds aren't as bad as the Radisson nestbox (I hate the thought of zooming in with the cam at times there!) but they still had more than there fair share of old meals hanging around way past their best by date!
Dennis will have photos, I thought he was going to break his face he was smiling so much!! ;D

That would be my guess too. Seems to be a trend here in Winnipeg. Female to male ratio.

I’ve also been wondering - who’s who? I think we’ll be finding out pretty soon though - if not today. :D
