Haven't seen his whole band perfectly clear but I have confirmed colour, the top digit and one of the bottom digits and half of the other digit. Not many other options when I get that close. ;) Add to that his return, behaviour on site and with Princess and I don't really have a doubt. But I also won't give up until I've got the darn thing on a screen capture!!
moka:
Given our awful weather and the low temperatures, it's wonderful that the egg is in the nest box.
Good luck little egg.
bcbird:
So happy to hear about the wise choice by Princess to lay her egg in the nest box.
Smiley by behaviour for sure, has there been a positive ID that I missed?
The Peregrine Chick:
And I should mention, Smiley hasn't quite manged to get all the poop removed from his head ... he's getting there though, probably on a couple more days and it will be all gone. :)
The Peregrine Chick:
Still just one egg this morning, will have to see if her next comes today or tomorrow. She laid during the day yesterday, so may mean the same will happen today or she's just taking her own sweet time, which I guess at 14 is something you've earned the right to do. ;D
Smiley and Princess have been parked over the egg constantly, in shifts - he's taking the longer ones & napping. We are apparently in for a big weather shift this week, 15C (almost 30F) between today (Sunday) and next Saturday. Tuesday/Wednesday will be the crossover - from 3C (37F) to 13C (55F) respectively. Will make incubating when they get down to it, much more enjoyable and perhaps allow for more breaks off the egg(s) when the sun is shining in the box - Madame used to big on time off the egg(s) in that box.
