It wasn't included in the interview but it has been brought up before and the problem is that we don't have access to the ledge and anything we put there has the potential to hurt someone or cause major damage if it were to blow off or become damaged and blow off.  Not to mention it would like be a hazard to the birds before that.  We check our nestboxes spring and fall each year give that our weather can be so extreme.  So while it seems the simplest idea, it has a few problems ... like everything on this darn ledge!!

Glad to hear P&S are ok....... later in the week they'll be basking in the sun & warmth.
My reaction yesterday was purely emotional - was mad - needed to count to 10 - or maybe 1000 before posting!  :P
That said, I still hate that ledge - but hopefully the idea that Tracy had of just removing the gravel and making a smooth surface will deter nesting, but still be good for hanging out!!
Hope to hear the other Wpg nests ended up better after yesterday's monstrous weather.  8)

--- End quote ---

I don't know ... in doing research on eggs and getting wet during incubation I found an article about a chicken whose coop got flooded who then went back on the eggs for a few days and then abandoned them.  Figure it is like when it is a normal year and one egg doesn't hatch but the adults keep incubating it anyway until at some point, they just know and it gets pushed out of the way.
