...feeding in progress, 4 healthy, hungry, aggressive little chicks (still capable of falling over in their enthusiasm, but aggressive).. ;D

Just watched a feeding but because of where the camera is it is hard to see past Mom. Did notice the new hatch had fallen over on its back and was just "swimming" to get righted. Never did ..so just fell asleep where it was. Mom came back in and I am sure will get the wee one back in the direction it should be and under the wing where it is warm. Cute babies!!

...they must all be alike at heart, the females...still watching this feeding; there was a front and centre pile of 3 chicks in front of mom, and one at the back. The one at the back kept reeeeaching for the food, but would keep falling over, and by the time it got up again, the food had been distributed to one of it's siblings...however, mom did finally move around when the front 3 started getting sated, and gave more attention to the back one, who seemed to have some trouble grabbing the food from mom. I'm not worried, I think that this is just the most recently hatched chick - I suspect it takes several feedings before they get the full hang of ripping the food out of mom's beak and away from their siblings ;D... The older 3 seem to have very little trouble now...

...dad was just babysitting the chick pile for a few minutes, mom came back with a food package for lunch; it's amazing how fast the male gets the heck out of the way when mom comes charging back in flinging orders around... ;D
