...EXCELLENT find, kittenface; I haven't seen the fluffy one for about an hour now - hopefully it's just sleeping under the camera - the other one looked like it might be ready to fledge, but the fluffy one - no way! Any thoughts on whether they'd come back to this nest box after fledging, now that we know what it looks like from the outside?

I'm sure the parents know where he is, they always do as they are constantly keeping watch over them even when you can't see them. Not sure what kind of nest they have but our juvies came back to the nest ledge to visit..it's almost like a rite of passage when they make it back home again... Now ours hang out on the rooftop right above the nest ledge and they do occassionaly come to the nest area but only to harass mom or dad for food.. ;D

...it must have been him - only one chick showing for the last little while, and a parent just showed up, looked around, and took off again, on much of the same trajectory that the fledgeling seemed to take...if he's ok, will he probably return to this nest box for the next while? I know the winnipeg ones do, but their nest is an open ledge...

No I don't watch that cam but if he was ready to go..then he was ready. They don't wait on the hoomans to show up ::)
