Smiley just came into the next box and was immediately chased out!  He didn't have any food with him.  :o

And I agree with the comments about the size: Those chicks have grown. And all those dark feathers. Yikes! The "babies" are growing up.

These two “little ladies” are sure starting to show their strength! :D
Poor Smiley. :(

I can't believe how big the chicks are today.  It is like they grew over night.   So many dark feathers and just walking around and spreading their wings.

That was the same reaction I had when I saw the McKenzie Seeds chicks - they are only 2-3 days older than the Radisson and West Winnipeg chicks but they looked much older than that!

It seems to me that chicks always look older and more developed once they have their jewellry on ::)

Two females, described as “vocal” “feisty” and “independent little ladies” :D
How cute is that! :D  It’s also great to hear our Princess was able to attend, and was helpful in calming our first time Daddy, Smiley!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

An unseasonably intense storm system centered northeast of the Dauphin area is producing strong westerly to southwest winds over southwest Manitoba and the Red River valley today. Winds gusting to 70 or 80 km/h are being reported with a peak gust to 96 km/h at Brandon Airport earlier this morning. These winds together with full tree foliage and saturated ground are leading to several reports of tree branches down along with local power outages. The winds are expected to stay strong into this evening before they start easing off overnight as the storm system weakens somewhat. Until then residents in the advisory area should be aware of the potential for further local tree damage and power outages today due to these strong winds.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.

Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca

1842h - raining here in Winnipeg (yet again) - 22mm in the last 24 hours.

All our chicks are soaking wet but they are all old enough to get wet and still be okay, particularly since they all have siblings to "pile" with and parents who will join them when it gets colder/wetter.  At the moment, just the chicks together in a pile in the nestbox at the Radisson.

I think I guessed two girls  :)  Glad they're healthy.  Lots of fluff in the camera lens right now, they're glued inside -- it's pouring again in downtown Wpg.. West nest is best!  :D

;D ;D So happy you were able to band three nests in two days. I look forward to the videos. A downer for me is after the banding, they change so quickly from white fluffy chicks to their dark feathers as juvies.  :( Soon the cam will show the Royals on their balcony.  ;)

And before we know it, we will be empty nesters, in the real sense. ;)
