Fargo - 2013 / Annie & Miracle

<< < (2/13) > >>

RCF:
Fledge Week!

We feel as though it is now safe to say that all chicks have fledged (taken flight from the nestbox area) except for Discovery. We have positive identification that Boston ended up on the window sill of a nearby building today. Apparently she rested for a short time and then took off again. We will likely have reports like these over the next week or so. We will do our best to try and locate the fledglings in the area using the nest camera as we are able. If you are in the Fargo/Moorhead area and have positive sightings of the fledglings, we'd all like to hear about it on the Audubon Dakota Facebook page

The Peregrine Chick:
The dark hood I suspect is Beau's genes rising to the fore ...but it will depend on what s/he looks like in his/her adult plumage to say for real ... in the meantime that chick will be easy to spot after fledging ....

RCF:
These four are almost ready to fledge. I noticed there is one that has quite different head markings than the other three.  One of them has a very full dark hood.

allikat:
It's absolutely wonderful to see 4 healthy chicks from our WW falcon male "Annie", perhaps to be re-named as "Arnie"?
This is so cool!  I like to call it, "spreading their wings"!

RCF:
They posted the band numbers for the four chicks on the Audubon Dakota web page.

Band Numbers & Names

The 4 chicks have the following color bands and numbers. It should making keeping them straight in the nest box for the next little while until the fledge: Male, black/red, H/72, named Marv; Female, black/red, 15/U, named Boston; Female, black/red, C/00, named Aurora; and Female, black/red, C/01, named Discovery.
