McKenzie Seeds - 2013 / Brooklyn & Hurricane
The Peregrine Chick:
1058h - shift change in Brandon and Daddy is on-duty ...
The Peregrine Chick:
Brooklyn looks to have taken over in the night sometimes, he was just visible by his shape/size & neon cheek patches when the light started helping with contrast on-camera between 0345 and 0400h. Hurricane took over at 0802h. Bright sun in the nestbox all morning and 3 very good looking eggs.
And for today, the weather won't be a problem at all, not even the winds from the NNE ...
Day - Clear. High of 15C. Breezy. Winds from the NNE at 15 to 20 km/h.
Night - Clear in the evening, then partly cloudy. Low of 1C. Winds from the NNE at 5 to 15 km/h.
Rose:
We've been very lucky today! No rain since early am. The reason Hurricane looked so wet, the wind was blowing the water dripping off the roof directly onto her right side. When she got up at change of shift you could see her left side was completely dry and Brooklyn was dry when he came in. They sure don't take long to change shifts, just one off and the other on ( they had lots of practice in 2011).
moka:
I'm surprised that awful wind hasn't blown them off the eggs.
The only good thing is it's not raining here. :-\

We're lucky here, there has been very little rain since 0730 and the cloud cover has on a few occasions shown a little bit of blue sky, oh that it would last! The wind keeps constant at about 46 to 50km/h still from the northeast. :(

That's a pretty wet bird sound asleep in there :o
For those from away, this is the weather warning that includes the Brandon area (but not Winnipeg)
Watches/warnings in effect for southern Manitoba...
Rainfall warning for:
Portage la Prairie - Headingley - Brunkild - Carman
Morden - Winkler - Altona - Emerson - Morris
Brandon - Carberry - Treherne
Minnedosa - Neepawa - Russell - Riding Mountain National Park
Killarney - Pilot Mound - Manitou
Ste. Rose - Mccreary - Alonsa - Gladstone.
50 to 75 mm of rain by late today.
Hopefully the wind will either die down some or switch the south or west to give Brooklyn and Hurricane some relief from the wind driving rain into the nestbox ... fortunately, they are still on eggs ...
