The Peregrine Chick:

--- Quote from: newchick on May 30, 2013, 15:00 ---I'm guessing either due to the rules about intervention with the Peregrines and Endangered Species or you just don't want to interrupt Princess and the brood, it's not possible to re-locate them to the nest box when they are all hatched or a little older.  I know last year the McKenzie Chicks were relocated last year, but, the old nestbox was falling apart, and needed replacement.

We will decide what to do with the Radisson chicks at banding time but at this point, we aren't counting our chicks before they are safely hatched and the Colorado Low has passed by.

As for the McKenzie Seeds chicks - we moved them last year and the year before because they were candidates for the transmitter project.  Nothing to do with the nestbox - the nestbox on the wall has never been a problem.  When we replaced it a couple of years ago it was because it was a good time for us to give them a slightly bigger space with more cover.  Replacing that nestbox is always a case of what is the weather like and can we do it safely and the answer in 2011 was yes to both.

Sue:
Kind of tricky to feed the little one when he/she is lying flat on the gravel. ::)

ballywing:
Taking good advantage of the break in the rain for a meal!  ;D

Jazzerkins:
still just one chick

I think (think) that we may just have had hatch 2 - the light coloured thingy just beyond Princess' beak is egg shell and I don't think it is the shell from this morning ... could be wrong but maybe not ...

Don't see that now.  I'm guessing either due to the rules about intervention with the Peregrines and Endangered Species or you just don't want to interrupt Princess and the brood, it's not possible to re-locate them to the nest box when they are all hatched or a little older.  I know last year the McKenzie Chicks were relocated last year, but, the old nestbox was falling apart, and needed replacement.
