The second downy coat is starting to show on the chicks - at the moment they look like a much larger chickpile than the McKenzie Seeds chickpiles but they are looking more like their younger and fluffier cousins right now!
They still have a few gaps in that fluffy second coat.
They are posing for the camera beautifully right now in the pause between feeding and sleeping.

Not sure if the rain has passed by Winnipeg or if we are getting a last little look at the sun before the rain really arrives.  Radisson chicks took no harm from the little bit of rain that fell on them.  If the rain were to get heavy, Princess may not be able to cover them like she did when they were wee, but she can keep most of the rain off them and they can generate their own body heat which in conjunction with hers, would keep them warm until the rain stops.

Princess and Ivy are parked on the Radisson sign above the nestledge - chicks are sprawled out asleep below them.

I can see the ends but not sure where the starts are.    ??? ;D

Kids are awake and up now.  The wind is definitely get up but still looks like it is mostly from behind the Hotel so the ledge is still protected.  Breeze is helping to cool it down a bit, particularly in the shade and the ledge at this time of the day is in the shade so the kids should have a pleasant time here now.  It's 24.6C at the U of W weather station right now and the winds are SW 30-35km/h with gusts (so far) up to 53.1km/h.

Too right Feather! - it's a rollercoaster of emotions, from excitement & happiness to worry & anxiety  :-X - it'll be a while before we stop fretting about them I guess, but for now they look to be doing great and these chicks have the best parents in town, it's wonderful to watch this family go about their daily business!!  :-*

There is still only one chick under Princess at the moment, the other chick is just out of camera range (below on your screens) s/he is parked on the concrete in the shade from the low wall around the edge of the ledge.  As the sun comes up and over the chicks will likely go back to Princess, but at the moment s/he is sprawled out on his/her belly totally in the shade.  Our first wanderer of the year ...

As a "brooding" viewer of this annual miracle, I fret over the chicks as they move from one hurtle or possible danger to another: will the chicks hatch, will they stay warm and dry, and now will they stay inside the nest box until they are less wobbly, and soon will they wait until they have super strength wings before they decide to fledge, and then will they be able to feed themselves.  I say this today because the chicks are peeking over the edge.
Be still my heart.   ::)  :P

Chick pile. . . . aside from some adjustments, not much going on this past little while.

Camera is steady this sunny Saturday morning.
