The Peregrine Chick:
--- Quote from: susha on July 05, 2013, 22:02 ---So, TPC if the little guy, who's looking pretty restless, decides to fledge and gets grounded or stuck somewhere on a roof and has to be retrieved, would you put him into the nestbox after banding (assuming he is uninjured and ready to be put back) leaving the girl on her own on the ledge?
And will you be naming these guys? I know we won't be able to keep track if they can't be banded, but it would be fun to call them something other than boy bird and girl bird :-\
--- End quote ---
We'll probably come up with names perhaps based on personality or some such -that's the way we often name chicks other than the Radisson ones. We'll have a little thing about it.
As for what might happen if he or she should go down after fledging, the answer is yes they will be released from the nestbox - easier access and so long as the chick fledged deliberately (ie not by accident) then the chick could be out of the box and off again in minutes or a couple/few hours. If the male it won't impact the female chick any more than she would already be impacted. Chicks don't always return to the nest site though I suspect he might because he has just one sib and she is not going to be ready to fledge when he is. Just gave tk wait and see ...
