soaring west:
Love to hear that all is well with them.

closet birder:
Is it possible these are different falcons? I can't imagine that would be possible with how territorial the peregrine's are.

closet birder:
Have been watching the falcons fly around the top of the Delta again this morning. Haven't got a close up view, but they are definitely flying like falcons, and are a goldish black colour. There is one on East side of the lower roof right now.

The Peregrine Chick:

--- Quote from: The Peregrine Chick on July 16, 2013, 09:27 ---I suspect that this pair will not be like the family groups we have had in the past couple of years.  I suspect that we will not, or only very very rarely see them on camera again this season.  The last couple of years we have been very fortunate that the chicks returned to the nestbox pretty regularly and we could watch them for a bit longer, pretty sure that won't be the case with this pair.  We've had other nests like that - Hurricane and her band were like that ...

--- Quote from: Pense on July 17, 2013, 09:20 ---TPC, do you think the fact that the chicks were raised on the nestledge as opposed to the nestbox influences this or is this not a factor?
--- End quote ---

No, we've had nestlings that have been thick as thieves on the ledge and in the nestbox.  Hurricane and her sibs split up pretty much right after fledging but last year, the kids returned to the nestbox all the time.  Vesper, Ty & Tupper were very tight and they were on the ledge but it looks like Hillary and Tenzing are happy to be off.  Each nest is different just as each bird is different - it's what makes them fun (and frustrating) to watch.

The Peregrine Chick:
Forecast for today in Winnipeg ...

Day - Clear in the morning, then partly cloudy. High of 27C. Winds less than 5 km/h.
Night - Overcast. Low of 16C. Winds less than 5 km/h.

Looks like a nice day for the chicks to work on their flight skills with these light winds!  Problem with being able to fly is that they are hard to spot of course  ;)
