Manitoba Peregrines > Radisson Peregrines
Radisson - 2013 / Ivy & Princess
birdcamfan:
Oh cr@pitola! I hate the nest ledge.
Typical guy - sitting up in the shelter while the lady is out laying eggs in the cold.
bccs:
Only a few short days ago, many were concerned and downright fearful that the Radisson would not be a nesting site. Regardless of where the birds have decided to nest, we should be grateful that they have done so.
Each nest site has it's advantages and disadvantages.
West advantages - more and easier access for banding, cameras, and sound.
Disadvantages - not so many safe buildings to fledge to.
East, advantages, wonderful fledge buildings that make it easier for the fledgling to return to the nest.
East disadvantages, harder and more expensive to band, no sound and only one camera.
I'm thinking that the birds know what they're doing and really don't care what we think or feel.
Something in the female is telling her to nest on the ledge - that's what she did, and we have to be content with her decision.
RCF:
:) I'm glad to hear there is a pair of peregrines nesting at the Radisson, not so glad at the spot they chose. ::)
transplanted maple:
So true Susha and Stormy, but it is sure nice to know that there is a pair at the RAD.
Stormy:
Well, the game is afoot! I'm thinking the freezing weather has something to do with the more clandestine canoodling that's been taking place. 8)
