A few weeks ago, I was reading somewhere on one of the Scotland websites, either Huntly or Falls of Clyde, that some of the eggs are different colours because when the female lays several eggs, the pigment becomes increasingly lighter with each new egg that is laid. I had not heard about this before and have been meaning to ask you about this, TPC. Is this really a natural occurence or is it simply just as you have said? ???

Eggs get lighter as they get older, ie, days after being laid.  There can/are also differences between the eggs, some are lighter than others, some will have more pronounced markings which can make them look darker overall.  If you are asking if the last eggs laid are always lighter than the first eggs, nope, each clutch of eggs is different and every year is different.  Its like a painter painting the same picture over and over again, they don't all look the same :)

The Peregrine Chick:
Sorry folks, still just two eggs in the nestbox as of 1015h today.  Princess took a week to lay all her eggs and Hurricane is still on her regular schedule and hasn't started incubating yet, so it looks like more eggs are on the way ... maybe today ...

Pam:
Great captures, RCF!
