Radisson - 2012 / Ivy & Princess
sami:
Sounds like Jubilee is continuing the female tradition (think Beatrix, Vesper) of shrieking as they fly. Makes you wonder how they ever manage to catch their prey. :)
bcbird:
Thanks again for the great report, Linder.
I can only imagine the thrill of seeing these birds soar when you have spent the time to keep track of them.!
Linder:
I thought it was Princess from the size, rather big.
bcbird:
Linder, thank you for your vivid report, full of visuals and vocals!
The loudness must be a Radisson female characteristic!
Could you tell, was it Princess giving the boost, rather than the smaller Ivy?
Linder:
Liz was the first to spot Jubilee on top of 330 St Mary Avenue across from Boston Pizza. At first we weren't sure but kept watching and saw another bird fly in, presumably a parent, as they were gone from last spot we had seen them. She took off and flew across the street towards the MPI building but did not have the height to clear the roof. I headed down there and saw her on the lower brick roof between Boston Pizza and MPI. Once again another bird flew in and she took flight and headed back towards 330 St Mary. She cleared the roof there and all I could hear was squawking as she flew around the back side of the building and into sight. She was followed by a parent and they flew in circles. Every so often the parent would fly right underneath her almost like giving her a boost upwards. They flew in a northeast direction and I thought they might go to the Radisson but she veered back westward and landed on the MPI Building. She is quite the squawker and I couldn't lose sight of her because I could always hear her.
