Hurricane is still on the eggs, mostly napping, occasionally peering at things in the direction of the MTS tower.  Looks to be a very lazy day in the nestbox in Brandon ...

At 10:30 this morning Brooklyn with his neon white bib was on the MTS tower and we could just see Hurricane's head peeking up in the nest box. The weather is really nice, a gentle breeze from the southeast,an occasional light cloud floating by and a moderate temperature of 20c to add to the mix. :) A good day for people and falcons! :)

By size, because I can't see her head its in shadow, its Hurricane on the eggs this morning.  Its sunny in brancon, she's having a bit of a pant but her head is in the dhade, butt is in the sun and she not tucked down tight on the eggs, so I'm thinking its a bit warm there right now (EC says 19C - warmer than the 'Peg).  Very very little wind at the moment in the box - coming from the east looks like as its ruffling Hurricane's lower back (above the tail) feathers (she's facing west) and the windowcam is steady so can't be very strong at the moment.  All looks very good right now.

Current forecast for the weekend:

Today - Sunny. Wind becoming east 20 km/h this morning. High 26. UV index 6 or high.
Tonight - Clear. Wind east 20 km/h becoming light early this evening. Low 11.
Friday - Increasing cloudiness. Wind becoming east 30 km/h early in the afternoon then light late in the evening. High 25.
Saturday - Showers. Low 14. High 20.
Sunday - Cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers. Low 11. High 18.
Monday - A mix of sun and cloud. Low 6. High 16.

All is well in the Brandon box.  Amazingly enough, its Hurricane on the eggs at the moment.  She sitting in the box, looking out with the sun shining on her and no wind so she's already panting.  Checking with Environment Canada it is currently 14C with a high of 23C forecasted for the day.  Winds are going to be light from the ESE which should provide a bit of relief for the adults.

On an up note, apparently the Assiniboine has reached its crest in Brandon, so as long as y'all can hang on for a few more days, with luck you will all start to see water levels begin to slowly decline soon!  Fingers crossed!

Having the water levels go down would be a very good thing!

Take a guess who is in the nestbox right now.  Brooklyn of course.  And he looks so much more comfortable than Princess at the Radisson.  Nestbox is in the shade, just a little bit of a breeze and he napping happily.

21C in Brandon right now, cloudy periods tonight with a low of 7C.  Winds south 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming southeast 20 early this evening then light after midnight. Tomorrow 24C with a few clouds, few more clouds and 23C on Thursday, then small chance of showers on Friday, rain Saturday and decent chance of a few more showers on Sunday.  Sorry Brandon.

I'm really glad to have these updates, I just haven't being going to Brandon because of the situation there. Rose and I have watched Hurricane perch on the nest and yell, Brooklyn would immediately fly into the box for his turn. I think he is a very good Dad.  :-*

Its Brooklyn on the eggs again/still, this dad is definitely taking his paternal duties seriously - reminds me of his great+3uncle/great-grandfather T-Rex who was also a very talons-on incubator ...  Sun is in the nestbox, window cam has a bit of a bob but can't see much feather movement in the nestbox so not sure but the wind might have shifted further south?  I'm watching Brooklyn's head drop to the gravel so I'm going to go out on a limb and say its a nice morning to be incubating eggs in Brandon.

The nestbox is in the shade now - some wind bouncing the windowcam some but not too too much.  Looks like the Brandon birds have the best of all worlds for incubating today - a bit of shade, a bit of a breeze and its 18C in Brandon right now.

It looks to me like Brooklyn is doing almost all the daytime incubating these days and maybe doing a chunk of the early evening and early mornings as well.  In any case, he is "on" right now in the early morning sun in Brandon.  He's got his back to the sun, won't take more than an hour I think until the small roof on the box provides him with some shade to put his head into.  The wind is suppose to be from the southeast today, not sure if that will provide some breeze into the nestbox, can't see anything yet.  By the time the temperature hits 22C though, the box will be in shade which will make it much more comfortable for the incubating adult.

Here's the forecast for the next few days in Brandon:

Today:  Sunny. Wind becoming southeast 30 km/h early this afternoon. High 22. UV index 6 or high.
Tonight:  Clear. Wind southeast 30 km/h. Low 6.
Tuesday:  A mix of sun and cloud. Wind south 30 km/h. High 21.
Wednesday:  Sunny. Low 6. High 21.
Thursday:  Sunny. Low 7. High 22.
Friday:  A mix of sun and cloud. Low 10. High 25.
Saturday:  A mix of sun and cloud. Low 10. High 23.
Sunday:  A mix of sun and cloud. Low 10. High 23.

We couldn't see any birdies from the parkade and I looked in every nook and cranny with binos, we did find Hurricane on the Scotia building later.  There is a cubby hole where the falcons have a cache  (see poopart) under the black/green ledge that goes around the front of the building.  I spotted something yellow in the back, not sure if it was a yellow headed black bird or not. I told Rose it could have been a banana.  ;D LOL

Beautiful day here today weather wise, bright and sunny and a little breezy.  Brooklyn must have been on the eggs around two pm today since Hurricane was perched on the north side of the Scotia building. I think she was trying to nap, my camera beeps when I snap a pic and she looked our way.

Glad to hear the sun is finally shining in Brandon today for you & rcf & others struggling with the flooding, as well as the birds, Rose. :)
