Looks like there is a big rain going on right now.  Poor Hurricane and Brooklyn!

Trey used to have two dots of white on the back of his head that I could see when he bowed his head for me or when I was using the spycam and was looking down on him.  Could be that Hurricane, as his daughter has one as well - not a whole feather, but maybe a portion, of the feather is white ...

Have noticed this white dot on Hurricanes nape every time I see her in this position, thought it was just something not permament and it would not be there the next time but it is. Could it be a white feather amongst the black???This is my first try with photobucket!

After you pointed it out, I see it too Rose.  And with all this wind, I don't think it would stay there if it was a loose feather (unless it's adhered).

:o My it's windy out there today!  Going to get windy and very wet later too.  Good thing they only have to contend with the wind right now.  Bracing for the water to come later.   :(

Don't worry TPC  there hasn't been any rain in the last 2 hours, what you see dripping in front of the lens is coming from roof(blocked gutters) and shouldn't drip on the birdies. The wind has been nasty though still coming from the north east and very gusty. These two have been through some pretty miserable weather since incubation started but better days are ahead.

1005 hrs

Birdie still tucked down, pretty much hasn't moved in the last hour.  Rain (big drops and small streams) now visible.  Bird's feathers are getting blown around but the treetop in the background looks even worse!

Hurricane and Brooklyn are going to be velcroed to the eggs through this bad patch since the eggs are so close to hatching ...

Notice the knot hole on south side of box, when Brooklyn is in the nest there is more space between the hole and his back and less space between when Hurricane is there.

Kinda looks like Hurricane to me.  ;)

Could be but when s/he lifter her/his head it looked like clear margins along the edge of the cheek patch, not the blurred one I'm used to see on Hurricane ... we'll have to keep watching to be sure ... could just be the way she's tucked down.

Besides, how often does she actually get wet in the mornings  ::)

Let me know if you get a clear look at her/his cheek patch!

0910 hrs

Brooklyn is on wet windy birdie duty (again) and is tucked down as flat as he can get and as tight into the corner he can get to stay out of the wind and rain.

Forecast for Brandon for the next couple of days for the folks-from-away:

Today - Rain. Risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind northeast 20 km/h increasing to 40 gusting to 60 this morning. High 9.
Tonight - Rain. Risk of a thunderstorm early this evening. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind northeast 40 km/h gusting to 60. Temperature steady near 9.
Tuesday - Rain ending early in the evening then clearing. Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind northeast 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming northwest 30 early in the morning then increasing to 50 gusting to 70 early in the afternoon. High 10.
Wednesday - Sunny. Low plus 5. High 20.

Note: nestbox is on the east side of the building so NE winds should hit the box but NW winds should be blocked.

This wind and rain can just quit any time now!!  Not terribly pleasant for any of our birdies here and in Winnipeg.

...Who ever was in the box last night had a dry sleep.
That's good news, Rose! :D He/she certainly deserved to have a dry sleep, after all of the rain lately.

Hasn't rained since last evening and then not all that much mostly light and noise,(planted tomato plants this morning) so any moisture you see dripping in front of camera is from the roof and not rain. Not supposed to rain today and doesn't look like it will. Just a dreary day with a mix of sun(not much) and cloud.Who ever was in the box last night had a dry sleep.
