McKenzie Seeds - 2011 / Brooklyn & Hurricane

RCF:
I managed to catch Brooklyn feeding the chicks . He is so funny because he keeps looking to the right and left side in case Hurricane shows up, he knows she will throw him out as soon as she gets back.  I really think he wants to spend time with the kids and she doesn't seem to let him, poor guy. Some of the video freezes a little.  ::)

Thank you for that Rose. I can't watch from work (but can check in to the board at break time). Hubby has gotten hooked on the falcon cams - he called me at work at lunch time and was trying to describe the adult to me over the phone in hopes I could clarify if it was 'mom' or 'dad'.  ::)

I was going to just guess - but decided to check the board - and there was the answer!

Pam:
These two were a treat to watch today!

By the way, when did they get SO big?!! :o

I believe that is Hurricane in your capture.  :)

Leana don't worry if you find it hard to tell them apart, those of us who have watched them for hours on end, from the ground and on the web cam sometimes have difficulty. With these two look at the malar stripes, bib, and front barring. TPC posted the differences on the forum a while ago (May 07 post 54) and Dennis has photos of both of them in his albums so you can compare. Two other things might help, Hurricane has a tiny white feather on her nape that you can only see when she is facing you and bends her head, also her leg feathers come down closer to her feet and at times partially cover her bands. :)

Hurricane is in the nest box shading the chicks, the temperature is only 19c  but the nest box faces east so it gets the direct sun for a few hours but it will be soon off the box, also there  is hardly any wind today. Looks like the first nice day we've had all week.I agree with every one the chicks seem to grow over night, someone must be spiking the pigeons with fertilizer ::)
