Radisson - 2011 / Ivy & Princess
The Peregrine Chick:
0955h
Just has a buzz around the nestsite via camera and one minute nobody is on the box, ledge, sign, Rogers sign, Hydro sign and then back I come to the nestbox and herself is sitting there giving me the evil eye and STILL not letting me see her leg bands clearly. Haven't seen him on camera for awhile now.
Lots of waterfowl on the move, more than we have had for the last couple of weeks. Not sure "Sandy" will hang around much longer, but it will be interesting to see how long she lasts!
ballywing:
Hope the interlopers aren't speculating on snitching Princess & Ivy's 'Digs' for next season! ;)

I think we are pretty much at the time when Sandy finally took off - she hung around for about a month last year as I recall. I know that prey species (waterbirds, ducks) are very much on the move now, even though numbers are migration numbers seem to be low in Manitoba this fall. And with the temps dropping to just below zero C at night, I suspect our "visitors" may not stay much longer.

Did Sandy show up again this fall?

We don't have full IDs because the birds are being only a little bit cooperative ::)
The female looks like Sandy and her band number in part supports this - one digit is the same, haven't been able to read the digit on the green part of the band (bands are black over green).
Male is an American, from the Midwest probably and the digit on the black part of his band is visible but the green digit is difficult to read again. There are alot of birds with his black digit so can't even make a guess at this point.
