If past behavior is an indicator here, I would say both.
She is not one to keep her wants/emotions to herself. And the boys only live to serve her.

Hard to say Helen, we only know when they have chosen a spot when there is an egg laid.  Had years where they are all over the nestbox and they used the nestbox.  Had years where they hang out at the box but use the nestledge. And vice versa.  Ivy seems pretty attached to the nestbox though, he comes by every few hours and spruces up his two nestscrapes.  Don't know if it makes it more enticing for her, but here's hoping!

Ivy has been hanging out on the edge of the nestbox for more than an hour at this point.  Found Princess, she's on the west-side sign, not sure what letter but I think its the "s".  She's been there for a long time sitting in the sun.  Every so often she calls out to him and he looks down at her but he hasn't moved.  Not sure if she's asking for dinner or just complaining about something ....

Ivy's on the edge of the nestbox sitting looking out happily ... he's finally lost the last of the light-coloured feathers on his head ... looking more and more like his dad every day.

Will do a little tour around with the camera while he's preening ...
