We have wind on the menu again today ... and a chance of more rain ... but temps aren't bad ...

Today - Sunny. Becoming a mix of sun and cloud near noon. Wind southeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 50 gusting to 70 early this afternoon. High 21. UV index 7 or high.
Tonight - Cloudy. 30 percent chance of showers with risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing before morning. Wind southeast 50 km/h gusting to 70 diminishing to 30 gusting to 50 early this evening then becoming light after midnight. Low 17.
Friday - Sunny. Increasing cloudiness late in the morning with 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon. Wind becoming southwest 30 km/h then increasing to 50 gusting to 70 early in the afternoon. Temperature steady near 19.

Could have been.  Chicks start to be able to thermoregulate (for all but the worst weather) at about 10 days of age.  Oldest chick is 10 days today, next two are 9 days old.  Youngest is only 7 which considering how cool it got last night was probably the reason for Princess' extra care.  And chances are all the kids were under her oh-dark-thirty.

Why was Princess sitting on only one chick last night and the other 3 huddles in the far corner? Is the one she siiting one the youngest chick?

How do get all your chicks in one place?

Get prey from mate.

Feed lone chick and create interest from far away chick pile ......

and lure the others to come in for food...........




and voila! A complete chick pile....



Insert mom and shuggle. :)

Oh yes!!!! Princess is taking care of the rogue whilst the rest of the chicks are in the corner taking care of each other.

Ha, Princess is doing a Trey and an Ivy. Cleaning and re-arranging of the pebbles and leaving the chicks exposed.        LOve it!!!!

The chick standing apart is trying to figure out how to get there from here. Also, his crop is so full, it may be unbalancing him. :)

Nope, it's more of a circle than a straight line. :P this is tiring!
