. isn't Carson napping in your photo... ???

You are right! When I posted my comments he was wide awake - by the time I figured out how to do the picture-thing he fell asleep waiting for me. lol

Looks like he found his way back to the nest and is up on the ledge of the nest box.

Great photo Jo!  Isn't it fun to take these screenshots?!  But... isn't Carson napping in your photo... ???  Perhaps he's dreaming of the places he'll see sometime very soon!  ;D

Carson who is rather nonchalantly enjoying some time on the ledge outside the nest box.

He's looking around at his Winnipeg. Wonder if he'll be able to see the "live flag" at the leg tomorrow.

(big thanks to RCF & Elaine for their posts with detailed instructions  :-* :-*)

Cade took the big jump down onto the ledge.  Carson is at the far end but Cade really doesn't seem to think he made a wise choice ...

1530 hrs
Cade comes home ...

Isn't he just the smarty-pants!   ;D

Well let's hope he thinks it's too hot to learn how to fly until this heat breaks.  Otherwise fledge-watch will become fledge-watch-roast-melt!

30° right now with a humidex of 40°.  Those must be some very HOT little birdies...  :-\

Carson is flat on his belly on the concrete at the far end of the ledge - he's got cool under him, a breeze around him and no meal remains .... hmmm, could be why he keeps taking off ....

2009 Radisson chicks escaped the tuppernest at 13 days ... Brandon chicks are twice that age and Carson et al are almost 40 days old ...

I know they did, but I guess I wasn't expecting the Brandon chick to come out so soon.
The front looks pretty high and I figured they would be contained awhile longer.  :(

I hoped they would hang out inside longer too, but there really is little risk of them running into trouble on the roof - its a big roof with high retaining walls.  No way the chicks will get up on the edges until they actually can fly short distances.  And the escapee won't go far, not that brave and he won't want to be far from his brother.  Hence the napping at the back of the box, he has a corner to tuck into and he knows where his brother is.

Thank you Tracy.  :D

Another little trouble maker is sitting on the box edge ... Carson is still at the far end of the ledge, he's tucked up asleep on his belly at the moment ...
