Radisson - 2011 / Ivy & Princess
bev.:
thanks for all the reports. I jsut had a few minutes to read.
I have found in the last few years that our females tend to stick closer to home till they migrate. Maybe so they can get the homebody instinct ;D
Who knows why.
Glad to see you are still seeing them :-* :-*
The Peregrine Chick:
1047h
She's back ....
Dennis spotted one of the boys outside the downtown area on his travels this morning so I think Beatrix is becoming a homebody because she's not at the same stage as the boys ... I suspect they are hunting on their own (though they will won't turn down a free meal like this morning) but she is not yet, or not much yet.
The Peregrine Chick:
Had a look at the recording from last night and I think Carson was on the nestledge just after 2000h and I'm not sure if/when he left but then Beatrix turned up around 2130h as per usual.
At 0545 one chick took off from the ledge (pretty sure Carson), then Ivy arrived with food and then there were three chicks on the ledge for breakfast and Dad beat a hasty retreat followed by one of the boys then followed by the other boy about 10 minutes later. Beatrix hopped her way down the ledge with the remains of the meal and one of the adults or chicks was doing aerial acrobats north of Portage. Beatrix eventually gave up her meal and followed the rest at 0602.
At 0636 Princess arrived and made off with the remnants of Beatrix's meal only to return about 30 seconds later. A quick dash down the ledge and she was off again.
Beatrix returned to the nestbox at 0751 and then 15 minutes later she wandered down the ledge to look for her, now missing, breakfast. A little rain dancing on the ledge at 0807 before taking off again at 0810. Back to the nestbox at 0830 and a food drop from Ivy just after 0900 ...
The Peregrine Chick:
0910h
One of the chicks is on the edge of the nestbox looking out. Pretty sure it's Beatrix but haven't seen her band .... oops, definitely Beatrix ... food drop by Ivy ... small meal, not sure what though ...
closet birder:
Not sure but I think I saw somebirdie in the nest box around 8:30 this morning?
