We are already getting sightings of peregrines at hawk migration sites in the US (Maine, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas) about the same number as last year by this point. First sighting in Mexico (so definitely going south) was on August 27th. From the current numbers can't tell if its going to be an early autumn but our birds were visible downtown for longer last year as I recall, so perhaps we will start to see migrating peregrine numbers increase in the next couple of weeks. May also mean that we start the countdown timer a little earlier than last year ...
