Great news, our plucky mom from last year has a new mate and is back at her nestbox!  Two of the eggs have hatched already as of this morning.  Thanks to Kim of Italy who posted the news over at CMNH and I found it there!

Her new mate is named Cirro...so happy she has not only survived after such a hard year but she's thriving!!

Oh Alphonso is a beauty!!!  I am sooo happy that all of Rebecca and Nembo's chicks survived!  Thank you to the volunteers that cared for them.
I hope Rebecca finds a mate and raise more beautiful chicks...

I'm glad all the other ones survived and I hope Rebecca finds a new mate and comes back next year.  It was really great watching this family in spite of all the hardships.  I didn't know much about kestrels until I started watching her and Nemo.  It really opened my eyes to how much they go through to survive.

They don't think he will be released, but I don't think it has been definitely decided yet.

All of Rebecca and Nembo's other chicks survived too.

Has there been any news on Rebecca and her chicks, oh not chicks anymore...kestrel teens and Alphonso?

There is news on Alphonse today, posted by Kim on the Cleveland forum. The little guy is doing well. He is staying with Luigi, the falconer who has been caring for him. He is a beautiful little kestrel.

Wow..go check out Rebecca's two remaining girls.  They are beautiful, looking just like their mama now.  I have to say that Eurasian Kestrels are a stunning looking species  :o

I hope this will help Rebecca...I haven't seen her for awhile.  I know I've written this before but it's wonderful to know that this family is being well looked after.  I wonder how little Alphie (Alphonso) is doing?

I just read Kim's post in English about the removal of the 2 young ones.  Apparently there is a concern that Rebecca is getting too thin and is looking exhausted (no doubt!!)hence the decision to remove the 2 and hack them.  It is hoped she will slow a bit and start taking care of herself more now with only 2 to look after.

Same gender would be my guess, they'll continue to develop and fledge at the same rate ...
